Kihei is located on  Maui's sunny & dry south side, leeward of Haleakala which keeps rain away to assure that most every day is a beach day.  The area is south of Ma'alaea, north of Wailea, and home to miles of sandy beaches including popular Kama’ole Beach Parks (Kam I, II, III) and Charley Young  Beach.  There is a huge selection of properties in this area with more moderate pricing than areas further south (Wailea & Makena).
